Handling import shipments at Sohar is a real challenging job, since we have our own office at Oman we were able to deliver the shipment ontime to consignee, ontime we tell is about deliver the cargo within the stipulated free detention days and avolding unnecessary detention charges, port charges & customs fine & penalty for which we very closely monitor and see to that at each stage prior to onboard we ensure to get the necessary docs and permission well in advance.
The above project Letter of Credit (L/c) involved by the time docs reaches from shipper bank to their counter part the vessel arrives destination, so we plan and get the Certificate of Origin & legalised docs from Indian Oman embassy once vessel on board and complete pre clearance at destination when vessel in transit and wait for vessel arrival to complete the customs formality and ROP permission for ODC cargo to delivery on time.

NORMALLY depending on the dimension we may need route survey and get necessary permission from authorities, fixing a vessel Laycan, ensuring seaworthy packing, fumigating for wood packing, securing the cargo on trailer/truck and transporting to Yard safely, awaiting vessel arrival, transportation to Port, Loading in Vessel. & Advising ETA of vessel to Customer, Survey after cargo is on-board. AT Destination Issue the notices of Arrivals to Customer, Discharge of cargo under hook or quay-side, Customs Clearance, Survey of cargo, Transportation to Site.

It is a quite different Challenge while handling the above Hoegh RoRo shipment , Chennai port being a fully equipped port and Handling BB/RoRo shipment would be easy, due to urgency of the cargo & technical reason we could able to fix a Hoegh vessel sailing from Ennore Port which is yet to function in full potential and we found difficult even in getting the crane from locals but we kept the cargo ready stuffed in 62 feet Mafi, custom clearance competed well in advance before the LAYCAN. At destination we have to Transport from POD Antwerp Port,Belgium to Ennery, France to fabricate and fix the accessories and then move finished cargo to Belfort, France.
